Irene Navarro Treviño Irene Navarro Treviño, 94, passed away Monday, May 7, 2012, in Laredo, Texas. Irene Navarro Treviño “Mimi” was the fourth generation descendant of Jose Antonio Navarro, Texas Statesman, and signer of the Declaration of Independence. She was married to Mauricio A. Treviño, son of Julian M. Treviño. Irene was born in Shafter, Texas where her father José Victor Navarro was a sitting judge. She was known for her gracious demeanor, her big heart and most of all for her great home-made recipes and savory cooking. Our mother carried herself with grace and elegance, always offering her home to all family and friends. Mrs. Treviño is preceded in death by her husband, Mauricio Angel Treviño; parents, Antonio Victor Navarro, Elizabeth Dawson Navarro; siblings, Rodolfo Navarro, Antonio Navarro, Elizabeth Martinez, and Anne Navarro. She is survived by her brother, George (Maria) Navarro; children, Mauricio A. (Judy) Treviño Jr., Irene E. Treviño, Yvonne (Samuel D.) Vester, and Melissa Treviño; grandchildren, Linda (Andreas) Passens, Maurice A. (Donna) Treviño III, Ennovy Vester, Samuel D. Vester Jr., and Alexandra Johnson; great-grandchildren, Maurice A. Treviño IV, Rosemarie Treviño, Wynne Treviño, Talene Passens, and Benett Passens. A rosary will be recited on Thursday, May 10, 2012, at 7:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Family will be welcoming friends on Friday, May 11, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel prior to departing to the cemetery. Interment will follow in the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Don Dunavant, Oscar Martinez, Mario Perez, Maurice A. Treviño III, Juancarlo Rendon, Edmundo A.
