Lydia S. Perales

March 28, 1930 — May 16, 2012

Lydia S. Perales passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, in Laredo, Texas after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Perales was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She always put her family ahead of herself. Mrs. Perales enjoyed cooking for her family, friends, and neighbors. Holidays were her most favorite times of the year being able to celebrate with her family all together. She instilled the value of education upon her children and grandchildren and most of all the Catholic faith. She will be greatly missed but we will cherish the wonderful memories for years to come. Angels are known to look at us from above and watch out for us, but they are also viewed as great warriors. She was our very own guardian angel incarnate. We were privileged and honored to be in the presence of a loving and caring mother. Mrs. Perales is preceded in death by her parents, Eloy and PaulaSanta Cruz; parents-in-law, Serapio and Aurora Perales; brother, Alberto Santa Cruz; sister, Esperanza Santa Cruz; brother-in-law, Heriberto (Julie †) Perales; sister-in-law, Antonia Arredondo She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Encarnacion Perales; children, Ricardo (Annabell) Perales, Diana (Jaime) Rodriguez, Rene Perales, Daniel (Tani) Perales, and Nora Lydia Garza; siblings, Roberto (Mercedes) Santa Cruz, Minerva (Juan Jose) Ochoa, and Hector (Rosalinda) Santa Cruz; brother-in-law, Enrique (Guillermina) Perales; sister-in-law, Clementina ( Ismael†) Rangel. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. A rosary will be recited on Friday, May 18, 2012, at 7 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 8:00 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to San Luis Rey Catholic Church.
