Roberto E. Gonzalez

Roberto E. Gonzalez, 84, passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Gonzalez was born in Hebbronville, TX on December 6, 1927 to Olivia H. Gonzalez and Abelardo P. Gonzalez. He lived in Laredo most of his life. He retired from Entex in 1986 as a Supervisor. He was a veteran of the Korea War. His pastime was calling the bingo at Holy Redeemer Church and St. Vicente de Paul Church. He also enjoyed playing dominos with his friends. Mr. Gonzalez is preceded in death by his parents, Olivia H. and Abelardo P. Gonzalez; his brother, Rene H. Gonzalez. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Petra G. Gonzalez; his daughter, Ana M. (Felipe) Granada; sons, Roberto E. Gonzalez Jr., Luis A. (Noemi) Gonzalez; grandchildren, Griselda E. (Bobby) Gonzalez, Roberto E. Gonzalez III, Felipe G. Granada Jr., Luis (Gabe) Gonzalez, Samantha Gonzalez, Melanie H. Granada, Marco A. Gonzalez, Steven (Crystal) Vasquez, and Eric Vasquez; great-grandchildren, Tyler Cadwell, Ezikiel Gonzalez, Joey Vasquez, Adrien Vasquez, and Kristine Vasquez; sister-in-law, Tomasita Gonzalez from Rio Grande, TX and numerous cousins and nephews. A rosary will be recited on Sunday, June 24, 2012 at 7 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 25, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to San Martin De Porres Catholic Church. A mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post 59 Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Felipe Granada Jr., Gabe Gonzalez, Roberto E. Gonzalez Jr., Luis A. Gonzalez, Felipe Granada, Hector “Tito” Garcia, Marco A. Gonzalez, and Santos Perez.
