Gilberto Lopez passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2012 in his home surrounded by his loving family. Gilberto Lopez was a devoted and caring husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Lopez was a member of the U.S. Army. He proudly served his country during World War II from 1944 to 1946 in the Pacific Theatre. He worked for H.E.B. until he retired in 1988 after 40 years of service. In recognition of his outstanding commitment he was inducted into the H.E.B. Hall Of Fame. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Mr. Lopez is preceded in death by his parents, Santiago Lopez and Julia Martinez Lopez; siblings, Emma Sanchez, Santiago Lopez Jr., Francisco Lopez, Fernando Lopez, and Arturo Lopez. Mr. Lopez is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Alicia Hinojosa Lopez; children, Araceli (Arturo) Lozano, Gilberto Lopez Jr., Rolando (Teresa) Lopez, and Elda (Rene) Rangel; grandchildren, Arturo Lozano, Alyssa Lozano, Arnoldo Lozano, Armin Lozano, Selina Lopez, Rolando Lopez Jr., Clarissa Lopez, Rene Rangel Jr., Monica Rangel, and Carlos Rangel. He is also survived by 2 great-grandchildren; siblings, Oscar, Joe and Olga Lopez; numerous relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Monday, July 30, 2012 at 7 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at 8:30 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. A mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
