Alfredo Ramirez Alfredo Ramirez, 66, passed away Tuesday, September 18, 2012 in Laredo, Texas. He graduated from Martin High School in 1963. He served his country in the United States Army from 1965 to 1968. He also served for our city with the Laredo Police Department from 1969 to 1975. Mr. Ramirez later joined the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission from 1975 to 1985. He later became a CBP officer with the Homeland Security retiring in 2005. Mr. Ramirez was a member of the Knights of Columbus from 1989 to 1996. He and his loving wife served as volunteers in the Doctors Hospital Auxiliary from 2005 to 2011. They were also involved as Chaplains for Doctors Hospital, where they visited the sick and administered communion. Mr. and Mrs. Ramirez have also been devout members of San Martin de Porres Catholic Church since 1980. Mr. Ramirez is preceded in death by his parents, Jesus Ramirez Jr. and Francisca Castro Ramirez. He is survived by his loving wife, Maria Gloria Ramirez; children, Alfredo (Rose) Ramirez, Sergio (Imelda) Ramirez, Monika (Jose Luis) Padron, Gabriela (Daniel) Garza, Jose (Ariana) Menchaca; grandchildren, Roger Ramirez, Sergio Ramirez Jr., Steven Padron, Miguel Padron, Victoria Padron, Daniel Garza, Isaiah Garza, Rebakah Menchaca, Rosalyn Ayala, Jacob Ayala, Jose Ayala Jr.; siblings, Maria Estela (Carlos+) Martinez, San Juana (Edward +) Herrera, Alfonso (Diana) Ramirez, Arturo (Rosa) Ramirez, Margarita (Roberto +) Inocencio, Alicia Ramirez, Yolanda (Heriberto) Herrera, Jesus (Dolores) Ramirez III and numerous relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at 7p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held Friday, September 21, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to San Martin de Porres Catholic Church. A mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 59 Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be: Alfredo Ramirez, Sergio Ramirez, Jose Luis Padron, Daniel Garza, Jose Menchaca and Roger Ramirez.
