Mauro Luna Mr. Mauro Luna, 85, passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2012 at the Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. Born on December 14, 1926, in Laredo, Texas, Mr. Luna was a well-known retired businessman and investor. He was a disabled WWII veteran who served in the United States Army in the Southwest Pacific. Mr. Luna also took part in the American Legion Post 59, was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Lulac 12. He also was a member of the Civic Center Board of Directors, Laredo Chamber of Commerce and Gateway Community Health Center since 1991. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Maria Elida Luna; children, Mauro F. (Mari) Luna, Ricardo (Marcela) Luna and Rosa Alicia (Gerardo) Lopez; 8 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; sister, Hortencia L. Lozano; also surviving him are other numerous relatives. A vigil will be held on Sunday, November 25, 2012 at 7:15 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. A chapel service will be held on Monday, November 26, 2012, at 9:30 a.m. with Msgr. Harris officiating. Pallbearers will be: Ricardo R. Lopez, Marco F. Luna, J.D. Lopez, Ricky Luna, Michael E. Luna and David Lopez. Military honors will be provided by the Fort Sam Houston Honor Guard and American Legion Post 59 Honor Guard. Interment will follow at the Veterans Section of the City of Laredo Cemetery.
