Altagracia “Yayita” V. Molina Altagracia“Yayita” Molina went to her Creator on Nov. 29, 2012 at the age of 90. Yayita was born in Laredo, Texas to Rodolfo Vasquez Garcia and Concepcion Escalante Vasquez on July 7, 1922. She was the oldest of 5 children who included Rodolfo, Alicia, Arturo and Enrique. She grew up in Laredo and spent part of her childhood in Mexico City. She went to Martin High School and played the clarinet in La Banda del Animo. She lived her life with the philosophy of ‘Dios por adelante”. She had a strong work ethic and valued her children’s education. As owner of a humble kiosk in downtown Laredo, she was a smart business woman who was known by many as “la Señora de las manzanas”. Yayita’s interests included gardening, cooking (specialty mole and “cabrito”) for her family. She was diligent in her Catholic faith and enjoyed singing and dancing immensely. She will be dearly missed by all who loved her. Mrs. Molina is preceded in death by her loving husband of 33 years, Jose Molina; children, Normita Molina, Graciela Gonzalez and Concepcion Escobedo; parents, Rodolfo Garcia Vasquez and Concepcion Escalante Vasquez; brothers, Rodolfo Vasquez, Arturo Vasquez, Enrique Vasquez; and stepson, Gilberto Molina. She is survived by her children, Jose (Julia) Molina, Sylvia (Ron) Chapman, Armando (Gloria) Molina, Dr. Arturo (Jim Malone) Molina, Norma (Oscar) Aguero, Edmundo (Levi Vinson) Molina; grandchildren, Ernesto Escobedo Jr, George Escobedo, Claudia Gutierrez, Julissa Gonzalez, Roberto Gonzalez, Roxy Gonzalez, Carmen McDonald, Veronica Molina, Jimmy Molina, Jorge Barrios, Jose Arturo Gutierrez, Josue Molina, Ron Chapman Jr, Christina Reynolds, Esperanza Molina, Jose Armando Molina Jr, Arturo Rene Molina, Altagracia Vanessa Molina, Michael Molina, Diana Molina, Samantha Molina, Kyle Guadalupe Molina, Jonathan J. Aguero , Natalie Ann Aguero and Jacob Aguero; 17 great grandchildren; sister, Alicia Coronado; and numerous relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Sunday, December, 2, 2012 at 7 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be celebrated on Monday, December, 3, 2012 at 8 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m. Chapel will open at 7 a.m. Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
