Ofelia Mireya Santos, 63, went to be with the Lord on December 10, 2012 in Laredo, Texas. Ofelia Mireya was born and raised in Laredo, Texas. She was a graduate of Martin High School and was employed with Laredo Independent School District for over 30 years. She will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched. She is preceded in death by her parents, Raul C. Santos and Ofelia C. Santos and Rosalio and Pura Ballesteros; sisters, Socorro Pearson and Carmen Ballesteros; and brother, Alberto Ballesteros; and her brother, Raul J. Santos. Ofelia is survived by her sisters and brothers, Pura B. (Frank) Averill, Irma (Vicente) Garza, Javier B. Santos, Rogelio J. “Pepe” (Dora) Santos, Raul C. Santos Jr., Alice (Gene) Ovalle, and Edelmiro (Paula) Santos; step-mother, Alicia V. Santos. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2012 in ST. AUGUSTINE HIGH SCHOOL (St. Anthony de Padua Chapel), 1300 Galveston St. Services will conclude at the chapel. A private family burial will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank Regent Care Center (Mary Gallardo) whose service and personal attention always made the family at ease. The family would also like a special thank you to Laredo Medical Center for their cooperative attitude to our sister’s illness (A severe diabetic for over 40 years). “Her last fight for life” and subsequent care given to her at the hospital was companionate and sensitive, especially the attention and explanations of the attendants, nurses, and staff. A very special thank you for the care and attention to details of her condition by Dr. Mateo Reyes, who inherited her care at Mercy when she was transferred from another hospital.
