David Gonzalez Sr.

David Gonzalez Sr. David Gonzalez Sr. went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 15, 2012. He was a very loving and outgoing person, whom many remembered as the person who could make you smile. He was also remembered by many as a gentleman who did not hesitate to give his time, love, and energy back to his family, co-workers, and community. David was born in San Antonio, Texas, yet has lived the majority of his life in Laredo, Texas. He graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in 1972. He received a BBA in May 2004 in Management with a minor in Marketing and a BBA in Business Administration with a minor in Management. He went on to receive a Master's Degree in 2010 in Public Administration with a Certificate of Completion in Health Administration. David worked at Doctors Hospital of Laredo for 10 years where he held various positions throughout his career including Community Relations Coordinator. David was extremely active in the community, volunteering his time in various organizations. He was the Liaison for The American Diabetes Association, The President of The Noon Optimist, Active Member of The Bien Venidos Committee of The Chamber of Commerce, The President of Big Brothers Big Sisters, Coordinator of The Senior Salud, Med & Kid Salud Program, and Auxiliary and Ambassador Director Executive Representative, United Way Board Member, American Cancer Society Marketing Chair, S.C.A.N. Committee Member, F.A.C.E. Healthcare Liaison, and Red Cross Volunteer. Mr. Gonzalez is preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Gonzalez Sr. and Socorro H. Gonzalez; mother-in-law, Olga Q. Valdez; brother, Gerardo (Jerry) Gonzalez and niece, Sylvia F. Dominguez. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Gloria V. Gonzalez; daughter, Yvette Rendon; sons, David (Jessica) Gonzalez Jr. and Ray Modesto Gonzalez; grandchildren, Adam Anthony and Megan Nicole Rendon, Priscilla Renee Rubio, Arnoldo “AJ” and Aaron Armando Ornelas. He is also survived by his sister, Carmen G. Hanson; brothers, Daniel (Rosario) Gonzalez Jr., Joel (Cathy) Gonzalez, Manuel (Rita) Gonzalez and John (Ruby) Gonzalez as well as numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, and nephews. A rosary will be recited on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 21, 2012 at 9:15 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to Divine Mercy Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Luis Benavides, Dr. Anthony Galan, Dr. Pedro Diaz, Dr. Rafael Deliz, and the nursing staff from the ICU Doctors Hospital.
