Daniel Landa passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday morning, December 16, 2012 Daniel Landa Sr. was a good man. He was many things throughout his life: he shined shoes as a boy; worked for the railroad in Chicago; worked for the Coca-Cola Company and the Nabisco Company; he was a milkman and a bullfighter; but mostly he was well loved. Through his example he taught his children many lessons: you don’t complain about your circumstance, you get up and go to work every morning, you don’t say more words than need to be said, you stand by your word and guard your reputation. Mr. Landa was born on November 26, 1920 in Agualeguas, Nuevo Leon, Mexico and lived most of his life in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico and Laredo, Texas. Throughout his 92 years of life he made many friends and left a deep impression on his family, all of whom remember him as a loving, kind, yet strong and compassionate man. The people whom he touched through the years on his milk routes remember his cheerfulness and his concern for the community. He was quick to smile and the spark in his eyes made everyone he spoke to feel special. His greatest pride was his children – all accomplished professionals – and his grandchildren whom he adored. He was an honest man who gave of himself for his children, their wellbeing and their education. He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his wife Celia Landa; his parents Jesus Maria Landa and Felicitas Saenz de Landa; his brothers Miguel, Jesus, Julio and Virgilio Landa; and his daughter in law Patricia Landa. Mr. Landa is survived by his children Daniel Jr., Victor and his wife Becky, Maria Teresa and her partner Ana Gonzalez, Juan and his wife Gabriela Landa; his grandchildren Veronica and Carlos Landa, Daniela and Maya Landa-Gonzalez, and Diego Landa; his sister Maria Teresa Landa de Martinez; and numerous nieces and nephews.
