Valentin M. Aguilar Valentin M. Aguilar, 90, passed away on Friday, January 25, 2013 in Laredo, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Laredo, Texas on February 14, 1922, he proudly served in the World War II European Theater and in 1944 while servicing his country he was wounded in battle. He was honored with many awards and medals among them the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star, which he was most proud of, for his heroism and service to his country. After returning to the states, he started his own upholstering and wood work business, which lasted for over 50 years. He will be dearly missed. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” — John 3:16 Mr. Aguilar is preceded in death by his parents, Anastacio and Tiburcia Aguilar; son David Rene Aguilar; siblings, Anastacio Aguilar, Jesus Aguilar, EpigmenioAguilar, Matilde Sanchez, Hortencia Llanos. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Olivia M. Aguilar; daughters, Rosalinda (Jesus) Ramirez from Laredo, Diana (Ramon) Mendoza from Houston, Ma. Raquel Aguilar from Houston, Valentin Aguilar Jr. from Dallas; grandchildren, Jose, Melinda, Gerardo, Jessica, Peter, Ramon Jr., Deanna, Alex, Christian, David Jr.; 8 great grandchildren; sister, Celia Vela, and numerous relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 8:30 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. A Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Veterans Section in the City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Peter Mendoza, Jose Hernandez, David Sencion, Jonathan Sencion, Christian Aguilar, Gerardo Ramirez, Valentin Aguilar Jr. and Ramon Mendoza.
