Efren Ramiro Rangel

Efren Ramiro Rangel Sr. rode off into the sunset on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 surrounded by his bountiful, loving family. He proudly served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War. Mr. Rangel retired from the United States Postal Service after many years of being a letter carrier. His love of the rodeo, ranch life and the outdoors was passed on to his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed family gatherings and “carnes asadas”. His nieces and nephews lovingly recall numerous life lessons he taught them like how not to play with ranch marbles, not to use too much dish soap, how to hammer in a nail and that everything that glitters is not gold. He was preceded in death by his father Benito Rangel; his mother, Blanca S. Rangel; and his brothers, Alfonso and Homero Rangel. He is survived by his loving wife Sonia Rangel; children, Christina (Jaime) Castro, Araceli ( Rolando) Cornejo, Efren (Josie) Rangel Jr.; grandchildren, Christen and Cheyenne Castro, Roli, Sophie, and Ernie Cornejo, Ian and Andy Rangel. Surviving siblings include Hector Rangel, Antonieta Paredes, Elvia Vital, Benito (Laura) Rangel, Mario (Araceli) Rangel, Rosalinda Piña, Irma (Eliseo) Puente and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. A rosary will be recited on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 25, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to San Martin De Porres Catholic Church. A mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the family plot of the City Cemetery.
