Margarita Sanchez Uribe

Margarita Sanchez Uribe went to be with the Lord on April 14, 2013 at the age of 105. Mrs. Uribe, a direct descendant of Don Jesus Trevino, founder of San Ygnacio, was born on February 6, 1908 in Laredo, Texas, to Jose Maria Sanchez and Amada Uribe. At the age of two, she and her sisters lost their mother, and were subsequently raised by their grandparents, Jose D. Uribe and Olaya Gutierrez Uribe, in San Ygnacio. Mrs. Uribe was married to Ernesto M. Uribe who was the postmaster in San Ygnacio for 30 years. She was assistant postmaster while raising her seven children. Mrs. Uribe is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Ernesto M. Uribe, her daughter, Amadita (Francisco) Uribe Garza, grandson, Roberto R. Gutierrez; her sisters: Esther S. Uribe (Eloy), Cira S. Freymann (Guillermo), Maria S. Herrera (Aureliano), Carmen S. Benavides (Leonardo), Luz S. Lopez (Juventino), Josefa S. Ramirez (Armando), Juanita S. Gonzalez (Alfonso), Maria G. “Lupita” S. Southerland (William); her brothers: Dr. Ignacio H. Sanchez and Dr. O.J. Sanchez. She is survived by her children: Ernesto F. Uribe (Cecilia), Victor A. Uribe (Violeta), Socorro U. Cavazos (Alvaro†), Jovita U. Trevino (Rodolfo), Manuel A. Uribe (Diola), Ernestina U. Martinez (Felipe); brothers: Manuel P. Sanchez (Angelica†), Dr. Rodolfo G. Sanchez, Saul O. Sanchez; sisters-in-law, Melva Sanchez and Eulalia Sanchez; 24 grandchildren, 58 great grandchildren, 36 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces. A rosary will be recited on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home . A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Please meet at Our Lady of Refuge in San Ignacio, Texas on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 to celebrate a mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the family plot of the Uribe Cemetery in San Ygnacio, Texas. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Dennis Cantu for his excellent care also thank you to her caregivers, Alma Morales and Lucy Barreto, who lovingly took such good care of her."
