Miguel A. Alvarez, 74, went to be with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 7, 2013, in Laredo, Texas after a long battle with leukemia. Mr. Alvarez will always be remembered as the key man and owner of Michael’s Lock and Key Shoppe. He has joined his beloved wife, Olga O. Alvarez and his daughter Sandy Alvarez Chestnutt. He was very courageous throughout his battle and was always in good spirits. He enjoyed working throughout the city of Laredo and met many people doing what he loved. He is survived by his son, Michael A. Alvarez; daughter, Sally (Bert) Kraus, son Carlos (Elsa) Ortiz; grandchildren, Amber Avis, Beau Kraus, Dusty Kraus, Carlos Ortiz, Jr., and Grace (Mark) Galvan. Great-grandchildren, Ckaylin Rose Ortiz, Jonathan Galvan, Jason and Joshua Galvan. A prayer service will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A chapel service will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by Fort Sam Houston Honor Guard and American Legion Post 59 Honor Guard.
