Blanca Aurora Rigal

November 24, 1932 — June 20, 2013

Blanca Aurora Rigal, was called home by our Lord in Heaven on Thursday, June 20, 2013. She departed this world peacefully, surrounded by her beloved family and close friends. Blanca was born on November 24, 1932, in Laredo, Texas. She had an accomplished life, filled with love, faith, kindness, compassion and her loving family. God sends us His brightest angels to remind us of His eternal love, and anyone who knew Mamá Blanca knew her love was boundless and that she was a mother to all. Her home was always filled with family and friends, and she always cared and prayed for others, whoever they were—family or strangers. She was always willing to listen patiently and help others. Even in her career, she served other people, first as an employee of LISD for 7 years and then as a social worker for the Texas Department of Human Resources for 27 years. Her legacy to her family is her love and faith, which we are fortunate to have witnessed and to be able to carry with us. The world may seem a little darker without her light, her kind smile, her warm hugs, but her love and faith will continue to light our way. She is preceded in death by her parents, Valentin and Adelina G. Cruz; and her brothers and sister, Carlos Valentin Cruz, Berta I. Cruz Cavazos and Roberto Cruz. She is survived by her husband, George Rigal; her six sons, George, Jr. (Esther), Roger (Kim), John H. (Irma), Daniel (Rebecca), Rene X., and Michael James (Gabriela); her grandchildren, Lisa M. Treviño (Hector), Stephanie S., Robert R., Sarah E., Daniel Issac, Blanca Elisa, Judith, Olivia, Michael E., and Nathaniel E.; her two step-grandchildren, Gerardo A. Garcia, Belinda Garcia; her three great-granddaughters, Isabelle Treviño (+), Anelle Treviño, Kayla Montes, and Victoria Villarreal. She is also survived by other nieces, nephews, close relatives and friends. A vigil will be held on Sunday, June 23, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 24, 2013 at 8:45 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to San Agustin Cathedral. A mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
