Ms. Rebeca Cantu Pineda embarked on her epic journey as she boarded the 7:02 evening “Express” bus; her destination, “The Pearly Gates of Heaven.” Eternal life was granted to her on August 1, 2013 at approximately 7:02 p.m. As she boarded the “Express”. Her nine children, family members and close friends wished her a heartfelt farewell and safe trip. She left waving at everyone with her beautiful smile, in good spirits and looking forward to spending eternity in “Paradise” and reuniting with her husband of 57 years, Jesus M. Pineda; parents, Jose A. Cantu and Lilia Hale Cantu; her siblings, Carlos, Ricardo, Maria, Lilia and Gloria Cantu, Rosario Del Carmen Cantu Barroso and Elsa Lilia Cantu De la Rosa. Her granddaughter, Amanda Maribel Caudillo welcomed her grandmother to “Paradise” and presented a beautiful and aromatic bouquet of Gardenias. Rebeca proudly and unselfishly dedicated her life to her husband and 9 children during her lifelong career as a wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, sister-in-law, friend and confidant to all who knew her; a highly decorated mother by her children, who set no limits or boundaries on herself. She lived by every mother’s unwritten code: “Mis hijos siempre veinen primero!” A hard- working mother before and after her bout with Meningitis, Rebeca recovered fully and came back home after one year. Stronger and more focused on her children, she took a more active role in her children’s lives. Rebeca was loved by all her 9 children, who showered her with love in their own special way. Waving their eternal farewell were her nine children, Jose Gerardo (Maria) Pineda, Dr. Jesus S. Pineda, Ricardo Ariel Pineda, Diana Lisa Gonzalez, Ruben Pineda, Laura Rebeca Alicia Dimas, Sandra Yvonne (Douglas) Fields, Roel Adrian (and son Jessie) Pineda, Gabriel Efrain Pineda and Valeria Jo De la Rosa; brothers, Horacio (Angie) Cantu, Rene (Juanita) Cantu; sister-in-law Emilia Pineda; 30 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and numerous relatives and friends.
