Gloria Cantu Guajardo Gloria Cantu Guajardo born May 1, 1931 in Laredo, Texas left this earth on August 10, 2013 in San Antonio, Texas. Always mindful of others’ feelings, and as if planned, in order to spare her loved ones the shock of her sudden passing, Gloria quietly entered the Kingdom of Heaven and met her Lord and Master. Gloria was the ultimate lady, totally feminine and always looking neat and ladylike. To her last days, she loved her Saturday beauty shop appointments. Gloria was a great conversationalist. “Le encantaba platicar.” And nothing pleased her more than to have visitors or receive phone calls. She had this gift of making you feel special when you called her. Gloria was not only a great mother and grandmother, but a dedicated worker and productive member of society. She worked in retail for many years in Laredo and San Antonio where she formed countless friendships which she maintained till the end of her days. She is preceded in death by her mother, Maria del Refugio Tamez Cantu; father, Bartolo Cantu; only sister, Esperanza Cantu; husband, Alberto Guajardo Sr. Left behind to grieve this loving woman is her son, Guadalupe Alberto and wife, Gloria; grandchildren, Sara, Alberto, Joanne and Jesse; great grandchildren, LeeAnn and Luis Delgadillo. A rosary will be recited on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Chapel. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 16, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to Mother Cabrini Catholic Church. A mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
