Sylvia L. Davila Sylvia L. Davila, daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother, was peacefully called upon by the Lord on Friday, September 6, 2013, surrounded by her family and friends. Libby, as she was affectionately known to her family and friends, was born on October 28, 1948 in Laredo, Texas. Mrs. Davila graduated from St. Augustine High School and attended Laredo Junior College. She dedicated thirty-nine years of service to Laredo Independent School District; where she made numerous friends throughout the years. Libby will always be remembered by her caring and thoughtful demeanor; and a beautiful smile that she bestowed upon on everyone she came across. Her biggest joy in life was her family. She truly loved being surrounded by her family and spending as much time as possible with them. Most near and dear to her heart was her father and her six grandchildren that she loved and adored. She will be greatly missed by everyone, most especially by her three daughters. Mrs. Davila is survived by her husband, Raymundo Davila; daughters, Lisa (Alfredo) Moran, Cristina (A.B.) Barrera, Cory (Rafael) Gonzalez; father, Jose Gutierrez Jr., siblings; Elsa (Roberto) Palacios and Jose (Rosa) Gutierrez III. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Juan (Pearl) Davila; sisters-in-law, Elida (Jose Angel) Espinoza and Olivia (Wayne) Volovecky as well as many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. A rosary will be recited on Monday, September 9, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to San Martin de Porres Catholic Church. A mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the family plot in the City Cemetery.
