Olga Gutierrez Haynes On October 9, 2013, Olga Gutierrez Haynes, the youngest of 10 children born to Juvenal and Flora (Montalvo) Gutierrez, gently, peacefully and surrounded by her children and grandchildren embarked on her final journey. Who would have guessed that the baby of the family would turn out to be an amazing woman –daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, wife, and most especially mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Olga married her high school sweetheart, Jorge Haynes upon his return from WWII and together they raised 5 children. From the time her sons could play little league under their father Coach, she became the most loyal and spirited cheerleader for her family. Although she graduated from Martin High School, she became an avid and loyal Nixon Mustang fan, following her sons and daughter and grandchildren as they participated in various extracurricular activities at Nixon. She was recognized for being the Mom who attended every pep rallies for 10 consecutive years. Olga never met a stranger and was loved and respected by all she met. She opened her home to all of her children’s friends and many of them enjoyed her meals. She was called a magician because she could make a feast from just a little and even from left overs. Friends enjoyed visiting Olga because they knew she always had freshly made cakes, cookies, and special empanadas in the afternoon for her children and any visitors. You could count on having “merienda” with Olga. Tita, a name given to her by her first granddaughter, Roxanne was the core of the Jorge Haynes family. Olga leaves a legacy of faith, love, and loyalty to God and family. Mrs. Gutierrez Haynes is preceded in death by parents, her loving husband of 54 years, Jorge B. Haynes, and her grandsons, Robert Leonard Haynes and Eric Michael Ramirez. She was the last of her siblings who were Florencio (Zoila) Gutierrez, Tomas (Juanita) Gutierrez, Simona (Jose) Garza, Eugenia (Fred) Peña, Azucena (Alfredo) Barberio, Olivia (Eduardo) Sanchez, Juvenal (Leonor) Gutierrez, Raquel (Gilberto) Vergara, Oscar Gutierrez. She is also preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Maria Luisa Gonzalez Haynes; sisters-in-law, Maria Luisa Haynes, Consuelo Haynes Novoa and brother-in-law, Roberto H. Haynes. She is survived by her 5 children, Jorge, Roberto (Laura), JJ (Minnie Dora), Cynthia (Francisco) Ramirez, Larry (Andi); grandchildren, Roxanne, Rebeca, Lily, Kristina (Ismael Cavazos), Minnie Dora (Enrique Rodriguez), Lauren, Benjamin, Aly, Andrew and great grandchildren, Benjamin Bissinger, Alexa Cavazos, Abram Haynes, Ismael Cavazos, Madison Monroe, Carlos Cavazos, Mina Claire Haynes, and Alexandra Monroe.
