Altagracia C. Quintanilla Altagracia C. Quintanilla, passed away peacefully at Doctors Hospital at the age of 95 on Thursday, March 13th in the arms of our Lord, surrounded by her loved ones. After her husband’s death in 1989, she dedicated herself to teaching catechism classes to countless children for many years at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church. She also volunteered many hours to the ladies’ club at the church. Mrs. Quintanilla is preceded in death by her parents, Alfonso and Concepcion Castañeda; husband, Manuel Quintanilla Sr.; sons, Luis Olvera Sr. and Alfonso Quintanilla Sr.; grandsons, Luis Olvera Jr., Alfonso Quintanilla Jr.; great-great granddaughter, Jazmin Lee and her sister, Dolores May. She is survived by her children, Manuel (Estela) Quintanilla, Jr., Maria Rosario (Guillermo) Ponce, Jr., Carlos A. (Lucy) Quintanilla and Rodolfo (Aurora) Castañeda. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren and her brother, Alfonso (Lilia) Castañeda Jr., sisters, Maria Castañeda (Luis) Rodriguez and Lucia Castañeda (Jesus) Cruz and numerous nieces and nephews. A rosary was recited on Monday, March 17, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation was held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to San Martin de Porres Catholic Church. A mass was celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Interment followed at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were Guillermo Ponce III, David M. Quintanilla, Gerardo Ponce, Rodolfo A. Castaneda, Carlos G. Quintanilla, and Gilberto M. Ponce Sr. The Quintanilla family would like to thank all the caregivers who so patiently cared for Mom these last three years; may God bless them.
