Eric Abelardo Ponce

Eric A. Ponce   Eric Abelardo Ponce, 37, passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2014 in Laredo, Texas. He was a loving son, husband, father and brother. He was a graduate of J.B. Alexander High School and was employed by Corrections Corporation of America (CCA) for over 15 years. He enjoyed outdoor cookouts with family and friends and was the life of the party. He had a generous heart and was always willing to extend a hand to those in need. His smile and his great sense of humor will be dearly missed by all whose lives he touched. Mr. Ponce is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Domingo and Francisca Ponce. He is survived by his loving wife, Llana Ponce; daughters, Erica and Sofia Ponce; parents, Sergio and Yolanda Ponce; sister, Yvette Rodriguez; maternal grandparents, Consuelo A. Martinez, Abelardo (Nora) Talamantes, Heriberto Martinez; In-laws, Harold (Maria) Ellington; brother-in-law, Frank Ellington and numerous loving aunts, uncles and cousins. Also surviving are special friends, Christina (Ricardo) Farias, Oscar Garza, Lori Gomez, Lorena Aguilera, Melissa Jimenez and all CCA Administration and Staff. A rosary was recited on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation was held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at 8:00 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to San Luis Rey Catholic Church. A mass was celebrated at 8:30 a.m. Services concluded after mass. Pallbearers were Warden Juan Diaz, Juan Iruegas, Jose Iruegas,Oscar Garza, Ricardo Farias, and J.J. Martinez. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to his daughters Trust Fund.
