Jesús R. Hernández December 25, 1927- August 17, 2014 Jesús R. Hernández, 86, passed away August 17, 2014 in Laredo, Texas. Mr. Hernández was born in Morelos, Coahuila, Mexico. He lived in Laredo for over 35 years during his life. He is preceded in death by his parents, Santos Hernández and Epigmenia Ruelas Hernández. Also preceding him in death were his siblings, Margarita Puente, Francisco Hernández, Jose Hernández and infant twins, Jose and Josefina Hernández. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Blanca Elvia González Hernández and their four daughters: Elvia H. Baris, Marta H. Hinojosa, Juanita C. Hernández, and Blanca Nellie Hernández as well as sons-in-law Sefa Baris and Dario Hinojosa. His grandchildren are: Yesenia Botello, Onur Baris, David Hinojosa, and Daniel Hinojosa. His great-grandchildren are: Jacob Romo, Brandon Botello and Chelsea Nicole Hinojosa. Mr. Hernández is also survived by his brother, Heliodoro Hernández and his sisters, Guadalupe Garza and Mercedes Menendez as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, their children and other relatives. Mr. Hernández immigrated from Mexico in1951 and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a reservist after which he was honorably discharged on September 30, 1960. He then worked for the Union Pacific Railroad, successor company to the Missouri Pacific Railroad, for almost 46 years as a telegrapher, agent and customer service representative in south and central Texas. Visitation will be held at Hillside Funeral Home, 310 Hillside Road, Laredo, Texas 78041 on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and a vigil (also known as a rosary) will start at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 8:45 a.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2014 from Hillside Funeral Home, 310 Hillside Road, Laredo, Texas 78041 to St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 102 Hillside Road, Laredo, Texas 78041. A mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. at the church. Committal services and interment will then follow in the City of Laredo Cemetery.
