Adolfo Cantu Alaniz Mr. Adolfo Cantu Alaniz, 84, passed away on September 22, 2014 in Laredo, Texas in the comfort of his home surrounded by family and loved ones. A native of Los Herreras, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, he enjoyed gardening, playing dominoes, and treasured family gatherings. His love for music and dancing kept him always cheerful and young at heart. He enjoyed watching baseball and cheered the Chicago Cubs during his years in Chicago, Illinois. Adolfo worked hard for many years and always believed that work ethics was the key to success. This legacy remains with his daughters and grandchildren forever. Although he was small and frail towards the end, he gave all great courage and hope and always treasured family time and unity. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Lydia Flores Cantu and his parents Albino Cantu Garza and Clara Alaniz de los Santos. He is survived by his five daughters, Elsa Cantu, Olga Cantu Guzman, Sandra (Rodolfo) Rincon, Deyanira (Gilbert) Serna, and Yesenia (Miguel) Madrigal; 17 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren from Laredo, San Antonio, Austin, Houston, Dallas and Los Angeles, California and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brother, Reynaldo Cantu Alaniz and sister, Velia Cantu de Benavides from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. A rosary will be recited on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2014. For more information, please call 956-724-6060.
