Maria Del Carmen Burr Maria Del Carmen Burr, 83, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 in Laredo, Texas. She was born on January 7, 1931 in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico. Daughter of Ernest Cruz and Maria Tapia, she was one of five sisters and has lived in Laredo, Texas almost all her life. She was primarily a homemaker and raised four children, Carmen, Ernest, Ramiro and Sylvia. She had spent quite some time modernizing her home in Laredo, dealing with plumbers, electricians, roofers and contractors. To pass the time she liked to watch Mexican soap operas on Univision and Telemundo, as well as detective and mystery programs on A&E, TLC, COURT TV, and History channels. She liked to read the daily newspaper, the Laredo Morning Times and visited with her family including several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and friends in Laredo. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernesto and Maria Cruz; sisters, Consuelo Amaya, Alicia Cruz Valdez, Estela Cruz and Virginia C. Estrada. Mrs. Burr is survived by her children, Carmen (Agustin) Esparza, Ernesto Burr, Ramiro Burr and Sylvia Burr; grandchildren, Robert Burr, Richard Burr, Agustin Esparza Jr, Albert Esparza, Javi Esparza, Carmelita Esparza, Elena Hernandez and Claudia Esparza; longtime companion, Raul Hernandez and numerous relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at 9:15 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to San Agustin Cathedral. A mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Hillside Funeral Home, 310 Hillside Road.
