Brigido Cañedo Jr. Mr. Brigido Cañedo Jr., 97, passed away on December 13, 2014 in Laredo, Texas. Born in Laredo, Texas on January 17, 1917, he was a member of the Sociedad Del Santo Nombre at San Luis Rey Catholic Church for 25 years. Mr. Cañedo was a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, brother and friend. Mr. Cañedo is preceded in death by his wife, Maria S. Cañedo; and his siblings, Francisco (Rosa) Cañedo, Carlos (Rebecca) Cañedo, and Heleodoro (Armodea) Cañedo, Estela Contreras, and Cesar Cañedo. Mr. Cañedo is survived by his daughters, Irene Cañedo of San Antonio and Patricia Cañedo Magnon; his son, Mario A. (Dora) Cañedo of San Antonio; grandchildren, Gabriela Magnon (Romel) Salinas from Laredo, Carla M. Cañedo from San Antonio, Michelle Amanda Cañedo from San Antonio and Mario A. Cañedo II from Denver, Colorado; great-grandchildren, Alejandra V. Cortez, Brianna N. Cortez, Madison R. Salinas, and Noah Palacios. He is also survived by his brother, Juan (Lucia I) Cañedo; and brother-in-law, Gonzalo Contreras as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. A rosary will be recited on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at 8:00 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to San Luis Rey Catholic Church. A mass will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Milton Haber and staff, Dr. Arie Salzman, Dr. Benson Huang and Dr. Horacio Diaz. The nursing staff of the 3rd floor of Doctors Hospital, especially, Jorge Jimenez. Also, the nursing staff of the Intensive Care Unit in Doctors Hospital, especially, Eddie Jimenez, Gabriel Valdez and Ruben Quintana.
