Marco Antonio Solis de Anda Born in Laredo, Texas on April 30, 1980, Marco Antonio, was unexpectedly called to his Heavenly Home on March 3, 2015 in Los Angeles, California. Known for his sense of humor, creativity, compassion, sensitivity, generosity, quick-wit and his adventurous spirit, Marco leaves behind a legacy of love of life and a strong work ethic. A few years after graduating from United High School in 1998; Marco embarked on a two and a half year European adventure, living in Florence, Lugano, Barcelona, Amsterdam and Berlin and in the process visiting over thirty countries. He became fluent in Italian and could work his way around in Dutch and German and made many new friends along the way. He decided to return home and moved to Austin, where he watched the filming of a Quentin Tarantino movie starring Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn. He was inspired by what he saw and decided to enroll in film school. He moved to Vancouver, BC and enrolled in the Vancouver Film School where he graduated in 2008 with a major in emphasis in Sound Mixing. After graduation, he went directly to Los Angeles where he launched his career as a freelance Sound Mixer. Sound Mixing was not his profession, it was his LIFE. Asked about having any hobbies and Marco would respond, “my hobby is my work, I love what I do.” In Los Angeles, he was known as “Marco, the sound guy”. He did not disappoint because he had a great ear and was sought after for his dedication and expertise in his Sound Mixing Abilities. He worked on some commercials with Anthony Hopkins (who preferred to be called Tony), and most recently Ron Howard. His work allowed him to travel to numerous cities in the U.S. Also, Puerto Vallarta, The Virgin Islands, Istanbul, and the far east in Thailand, Japan, Vietnam, Cambodia and Singapore. He was contracted and looking forward to working on the social scene for the 2015 French Open in Paris. Marco is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Francisco and Aurora Solis; his maternal grandfather, Joe de Anda, Sr.; and his uncle, Juan Francisco Solis. Left to cherish his memories are his parents, Sylvia de Anda (Jose Antonio) Dodier and Rene (Nena) Solis; his sister, Lisa (Dale) Bushland; his brother, Rene Ricardo (Araceli) Solis; his grandmother, Belia (JoeI) de Anda; and his nephews and niece, Rene and Rhyan Solis and Jordi and Alexandra Sada-Paz; his stepbrothers, Mauricio (Sarai) Sada-Paz, Gabriel (Kathryn) Sada-Paz and Bernardo Sada-Paz. Also left behind are numerous uncles, aunts and cousins. Also cherishing his memory is the love of his life, bestfriend, and traveling companion, Katherine Silverston. The family would like to thank his LA friends and sponsors, Al, Leon, Efren, Roxanne and especially Julia, who loved him like a second mom. Also, a thank you to his neurologist, Dr. Fawaz Faisal, who treated Marco for his Multiple Sclerosis. A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2015 in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated after the visitation.
