Consuelo Flores Criado God graciously and peacefully called Consuelo Flores Criado, 98, home to Heaven on April 4, 2015. She was born May 9, 1916 in Laredo, Texas to Margarito and Matilde Flores. She was a beautiful woman with never an unkind word. As a beautician in her early life, she was well known and trusted by many. She was also well known as a person who always welcomed you into her home graciously. She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Antonio Criado, Sr. and of this marriage 6 children were born. She was a strong believer in the Faith of the Lord and installed that into her everyday life. She was well known for her singing around the house, excellent cooking, wonderful chuckle, quick wit and also for her ability to lecture such as “cuida tu trabajo para que tu trabajo te cuide a ti” or teach a lesson without you even knowing it. It brought her great joy to tend to others whether it was cooking and feeding everyone, crocheting a pair of booties and scarf for them or playing cards with anyone and everyone. She loved to travel especially if it meant a casino or family gathering! She never raised her voice to children and always made them feel absolute pure love. She is preceded in death by her parents, Margarito and Matilde Flores; husband of 56 years, Antonio Criado, Sr.; her son, Antonio Criado Jr.; siblings, Vicente Flores, Walter Flores, Juan Flores, Ray Flores, Amparo Flores Meza, Margarita Flores Cruz and Adela Flores McIntire. Mrs. Criado is survived by her children, Carmen (Thom) LaCroix, Armando (Rosa) Criado, Alfredo Criado, Maria C. Criado, Celia (Jeff) Gides; daughter-in-law, Minerva Gonzalez Criado; siblings, Maria Luisa Campos and Ofelia Castro; 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and extended relatives. A rosary will be recited on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
