Zaragoza Soliz Jr.

December 2, 1920 — August 3, 2015

Mr. Zaragoza Soliz, Jr. Mr. Zaragoza Soliz, Jr. passed away on Monday, August 3, 2015 in Laredo, Texas. He worked 38 years for the Laredo Fire Department retiring in 1983 as a Captain. During World War II, he served in 557th Army Air Forces Base Unit receiving numerous decorations and citations. He is preceded in death by his parents, Zaragoza and Alejandra Soliz; wife, Paulita Soliz. He is survived by his children, Zaragoza (Laura) Solis, III, Rodolfo (Blanca+) Soliz, Rosalinda (Adalberto) Barrera, Nelda (Arturo) Bernal and Ricardo (Elsa) Soliz; 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and numerous relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 7, 2015 at 8:30 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to San Martin de Porres Catholic Church. A mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by Air Force Honor Guard and American Legion Post 59 Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be the Laredo Fire Department Honor Guard. Honorary Pallbearers will be Melissa Osbourne, Araceli Solis, Daniel Barrera, Veronica Gutierrez, Gilbert Guerra III, Rebecca Guerra, Julio Guerra, Ricardo Soliz Jr., Javier T. Soliz, Christopher Bernal and Brianna Bernal. The family wishes to thank Juanita Benitez for the special care given to Zaragoza Solis Jr. over the last three years.
