Luke 23:43; Amen I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise. Olivia M. Diaz, our beautiful mother, wife, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend was called Home to the Kingdom of Heaven on September 28, 2015. Mama will forever be remembered as our Lord’s undying faithful servant, devoted wife, perfect and beautiful mother, blessed grandmother. She was known to pray the Rosary daily for her siblings, relatives and friends with unending diligence. Olivia, born to Miguel F. Martinez and Efigenia Villegas Martinez on March 23rd, lived simply, humbly, and happily with her parents and nine siblings on Piedra China St in Laredo, Texas. She graduated from Ursuline Academy in 1949 and attended Laredo Junior College. She married the love of her life, Daniel Diaz in 1966 and became the best mother to her 4 children. She worked proudly as an assistant for more than twenty-five years at Laredo Independent School District. Her family and their happiness was most important to her. Her children were considered, “Mis Joyas,” to her, and her grandchildren were, “Mis Diamantitos.” She was known to say, “Los hijos se quieren demasiado pero los nietos se adoran.” Olivia M. Diaz is survived by her beloved husband of 49 years, Daniel Diaz; her children, Melissa D. Garza (Eduardo), Laura Coulston (Gerald), Daniel G. Diaz, and Norma Liza Diaz; her grandchildren, Cassandra E. Diaz, Michael D. Diaz, Thomas J. Diaz, Clarissa A. Diaz, Alexandra V. Garza, Catherine G. Garza, Joseph E. Garza, Lauren O. Preceding in death are grandaughter, Emily Barrera; parents, Miguel and Efigenia Martinez; brothers, Roberto Martinez, Leopoldo Martinez, Miguel Martinez Jr. Rodolfo Martinez, and Leopoldo Martinez Jr. nephew. Mom was a gift to her family; a faithful warrior who fought the good fight to the last minute and loved God through all she endured. Psalm 73:26, Though my flesh and my heart fail, God is the rock of my heart and my portion forever. Timothy 4:7, I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Until we see you again in eternity, mommy. Come for us when our time arrives and Our Lord calls our name. We will love you always.
