Josefina R. Perez

Josefina R. Perez entered into eternal rest on Thursday, May 26, 2016, in Laredo, Texas. Mrs. Perez was a loving devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved life and lived life to its fullest. Her legacy will continue by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her bright blue eyes will linger on forever in our hearts. She is preceded in death by her father, famous writer and poet, Jose Garcia Roel and mother, Josefina G. Roel; 11 siblings. She is survived by her husband, Guadalupe Perez; daughters, Cynthia (Felix) Hernandez, Elsa Jo (Dr. Mario) Gutierrez; grandchildren, Erica Lee (Danny) Zuniga, Lizette Marie (Vijay) Dahiya, Andres (Christy) Hernandez, J. Taylor Gutierrez , and C. Garret Gutierrez; brother, Virgilio (Emilia) Roel; sister, Yolanda (Benjamin†) Diaz De Leon. Mrs. Perez is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Josefina and her husband owned and operated Perez Body Shop for over 40 years. The Perez family would like to thank Dr. Rafael Deliz, Dr. Humberto Varela, and all nurses and staff at Doctors Hospital,Providence Rehab Center, and Amistad Home Health Center. A special thanks to her care taker, Delia Escolano. A vigil will be held on Sunday, May 29, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 30, 2016 at 8:45 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to St. John Neumann Catholic Church. A mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
