Dr. Rodolfo Araiza, Jr.
Dr. Rodolfo Araiza, Jr. passed away Friday, July 1st, 2016, at the age of 70.
He graduated from St Joseph's Academy in 1964 and obtained a degree in Exporting and International Business from Trinity University. He studied aerotechnology at MIT and later, received a medical degree from the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara. He was a corporal in the U.S. Marines and served two tours of duty in Vietnam. Dr. Rodolfo Araiza, Jr, was awarded, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Marine Marksman Medal.
After his father's retirement, he served as President and CEO of the family's manufacturing business in Mexico City. "Rudy", as he was known to friends, had a love for bluegrass, polka and classical music, and was passionate about playing the piano, guitar, banjo and ukelele. He was fortunate to enjoy the friendship of a loyal and large group of friends from St. Joseph's Academy, as well as his weekly lunch companions.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rodolfo Araiza and Eva Herrera Araiza; and by his good friend and cousin, Armando Garcia.
Dr. Araiza is survived by his wife, Yamel Mayans Araiza; daughter, Yamel Montserrat Araiza. He is also survived by his brother and sisters: Minerva (Arturo +) San Martin of San Antonio, Margarita Araiza of Laredo, Melisa (Kimble) Hayes of Austin, Roberto Rodolfo Araiza of Austin. Dr. Rodolfo Araiza is also survived by nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Dennis Cantu, Dr. Joseph Camero, Dr. Selena Stuart, and the Laredo Medical Center Staff for their continuous care and support.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2016 from 8:00 a.m. to 9: 30 a.m.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. A mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m.
Pallbearers will be, Dr. Jose Mayans, Joe Mayo, Armando Garcia, Jr, Patrick Earles, Rogelio G. Rios, Jr, Dr. Pedro Alfaro, Ramiro Ramirez, and Clarence “Buddy” Earles.
Honorary Pallbearers: Ceasar Cantu, Joe Murillo, and Roberto Vela,
Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
