Bertha H. Lailson, 101, passed away on Friday, August 12, 2016, in Laredo, Texas. Mrs. Lailson was the owner of La Mexicana Restaurant for 86 years and in Laredo for 62 years. She was a devoted and beloved wife, mother, daughter, and sister. Bertha Lailson fue llamada por nuestro Señor. Nació en Torreón Coah, México, Hija de José María Hernández Y Aurora Contreras De Hernández. Se casó con Magdaleno Lailson y en 1930 nació su hija Socorro. Bertha fue una hija, esposa, y madre ejemplar. A los 11 años tuvo que dejar sus estudios porque su padre murió repentinamente y elle tuvo que hacerse cargo de su madre enferma y sus hermanos. A los 15 años se casó con Magdaleno Lailson dueño del restaurant La Mexicana. En el cual los dos trabajaron juntos hasta la muerte de su esposo. Bertha continúo otros 51 años en su restaurante (La Mexicana). Con mucho amor hasta que nuestro Señor la llamo. Mrs. Lailson is preceded in death by husband, Jose Magdaleno Lailson; parents, Jose Maria Hernandez and Aurora C. Hernandez; brothers, Rodolfo Hernandez and Jorge Hernandez; niece, Isabel Munoz. She is survived by her daughter, Socorro L. Valdes and son, George( Linda) Hernandez; grandchildren Bertha (Jim) Mosley, Manuel Valdes, Sylvia Whitlock, Sonia (Andrew) Alvarado, Magdalena Perez,; great- grandchildren Magdalena ( Bobby) Luce, Armando Lopez Jr., Michelle (Jim) Price, Elizabeth (Robert) Fuentes, Andrea Alvarado, Chelsea (Gil ) Guzman, Whitney Perez; great-great-grandchildren Ivan Lopez, Leah Lopez, Riley Coco Luce and Sterling Price; nephews Jorge Hernandez Duran, Gerardo Hernandez Duran, Benito Munoz; also other family members and friends. A prayer service will be held on Monday, August 15, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. The family would like to thank her physicians; Dr. Ricardo Cigarroa, Dr. Fernando Sanchez, and Dr. Roberto Gomez Vasquez.
