Gregorio Lopez

Gregorio Lopez, 92, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 in Laredo, Texas. Mr. Lopez was born in Ciudad Guerrero Viejo, Tamaulipas. He was a beloved son, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend. He moved to Laredo with his bride in 1949. He spent his life helping others and devoted himself as a carpenter. He then became a supervisor for three generations of Leyendecker Construction Company. He raised four children and instilled in them the values of integrity, honesty, and hard work. His legacy lives on in many of the local buildings in whose construction he played a vital role. Mr. Lopez is preceded in death by his wife, Maria Lopez; parents, Fidencio and Josefina Lopez; siblings, Agustin Lopez, Luis Lopez, Fernando Lopez, Efigenia Gonzalez; and grandson, David Gregorio Lopez. He is survived by his children, Gregorio (María) Lopez Jr., José Roberto Lopez, Estela (Eduardo+) dela Garza, Maricela García; sister, Ramona (Alvaro+) Lopez de Briseño; sister in law, Zoila (Osvaldo+) Tamez; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other family, and friends. A rosary will be recited on Friday, September 30, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 8:00 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to San Luis Rey Catholic Church. A mass will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the family plot at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
