Tanis Anthony Garza, 40, was called to be with the Lord on Friday, September 30, 2016. He passed away peacefully while he was sleeping.
Tanis was born on February 15, 1976 to Estanislado and Carol Postell Garza. He was raised in Laredo, Texas and graduated with honors from United High School in 1994. His passion was playing golf and he excelled all four years in high school. Tanis’ love for golf led him to attend Professional Golfers Career College in Temecula, California.
Tanis was also an avid hunter, fisherman, and overall outdoorsman. He enjoyed grilling for his family and friends, and loved entertaining them with his impressions of Garth Brooks and other musicians. In addition to country music, he loved Tejano and Corridor music, as well.
Tanis was known for his vibrant and infectious smile that made everyone feel happy and brought comfort to all that knew him. He was known for his sense of humor and always had a joke to share. His generous nature and heart of gold are qualities that he will always be remembered by.
Preceding Tanis death was his father, Estanislado Garza Jr.; maternal grandfather, Rufus Chris Postell; paternal grandparents, Estanislado Garza Sr. and Bertha Garza.
Left to cherish his memory is his mother, Carol J. Postell(Garza); maternal grandmother, Eva M. Postell; Jason Patrick Garza(brother), Laura Karina Reyna(future sister-in-law); Aunt Cathy Ann Postell, Uncle Chris(Norma) Postell, Uncle Benny Garza, Aunt Lupe(Dario+) Ramos, Aunts Martha(Juan+) Vasquez, Jose Luis (Tere) Rezendez, numerous cousins, and everlasting friends.
A rosary will be recited on Monday, October 3, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to St. Patrick Catholic Church. A mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m.
Pallbearers will be: Jason P. Garza, Michael Reyna, George Flores, Luis Guardiola, Cesar Montemayor, Tito Cardenas, Benny Garza Jr., and Omar Villalon.
Honorary Pallbearers are Benny Garza Sr. and Chris Postell.
Interment will follow in the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
