Filomena P. Vela

Filomena P. Vela, 93, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2016, in Laredo, Texas. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jose “Tito” Vela; children, Jose “Tito” Vela Jr., Arturo Vela and Mary Elizabeth Rivera. Mrs. Vela is survived by her children, Rosa Maria Teniente, Rosalinda Flores, Maria Magdalena Hatcher, Juan Armando (Liz) Vela, Maria Teresa (Martin) Rodriguez, Grace Hillyer, Geraldine Farias; 32 grandchildren, 63 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren; sister, Juanita Ponce and numerous relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 30, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. A mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the City of Laredo Cemetery.
