Yolanda Garcia Garza Our beloved Mother, Yolanda G. Garza, 83, left us to be with our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 in Houston, Texas. Born on August 23, 1933 in Laredo, Yolanda had a love for gardening, cooking, baking, and sewing. She had a wonderful smile that could light up a room in an instant. As a widow, she dedicated her life to raising her 6 children and was loved by everyone. She worked as an accountant for many years and devoted her entire life to her children and was most happy when spending time with family. Mrs. Garza is preceded in death by her husband, Gilberto Garza; parents, Pablo Garcia and Dolores Longoria Garcia; siblings, Pablo “Fernando” Garcia and Ana Laura Garcia Mendoza. She is survived by her sons, Gilberto Garza, Jr., Richard Garza, Gerardo “Jerry” (Lisa) Garza, Pablo “Paul” (Ashlie) Garza; daughters, Normalicia “Norma” (Craig) Straker and Yolanda (Paul) King; 25 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and numerous relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited Friday, January 6, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. A mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. with Msgr. Harris, officiating. Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
