Our beloved father Jesus Johnson, 83, of Laredo, passed away March 26, 2017 in Laredo, Texas. Jesus was born in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas to Lucinda Gonzalez and Thomas Johnson on July 11, 1933. Jesus attended school in Nuevo Laredo and married Belia Sanchez Johnson on June 24, 1952. Jesus managed his own Conoco station for several years and retired in the 1990’s. Jesus was involved in local politics and sat on the Laredo Community Action Agency Board representing the Mother Cabrini area.
Jesus is preceded in death by his wife; Belia Sanchez Johnson his parents; two half-brothers, Thomas Johnson and Juan Manuel Johnson; three half-sisters, Eva Vidal Johnson, Juventina Johnson, and Minerva Johnson-Dimas.
Jesus is survived by four daughters, Maria Guadalupe Johnson Cavazos, Clarissa Eva Johnson Quijano, Lucinda Johnson, and Imelda Johnson Davis; four sons, Alberto Johnson, Gerardo Johnson, Juan Manuel Johnson, and Jesus Abad Johnson; their respective spouses, Ricardo Cavazos, Jesus Quijano III, Tammy Rae Johnson, Renesha Johnson Davis, and Maggie Garza; nine grandchildren, Juan Manuel Johnson Jr., Scott Johnson, Kimberly Quijano Almaraz, Selena Danielle Johnson, Samantha Gabrielle Pierson, Brian James Quijano, Thomas Abad Johnson, Jesse Alexander Johnson, Ruben Timothy Johnson; seven great grandchildren, Isaiah Elijah Johnson, Dominique Pierson, Dakota Pierson, Scott Curtis Johnson, Aliyah Johnson, Julianna Johnson, Avah Johnson, and several nieces and nephews.
A rosary will be recited on Friday, March 31, 2017 at 7 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to Mother Cabrini Catholic Church. A mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. with Father Paul Dou officiating.
Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Alberto Johnson, Gerardo Johnson, Juan Manuel Johnson, Imelda Johnson Davis, Jesus Abad Johnson, Johnny Johnson Jr., and Brian J. Quijano.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ricardo Cavazos and Jesse Quijano III.
