Cordelia "Cordy" Muñoz

Our daughter and sister Cordelia Muñoz Cantu, 39 passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2017 in Laredo, Texas surrounded by her family and friends. Known to most as Cordy, She was born November 20, 1977. She graduated from St. Augustine High School in 1996 and received a Bachelors and a Masters from UTSA. Currently she was the Regional Program Specialist at Texas Workforce Commision. Cordy was a loving, kind hearted mother, wife, daughter, sister & friend. Her caring personality and high spirit always lifted everyone’s mood. As a true cheerleader in her youth, Cordy always supported and stood by cheering on her family and friends. She had a great sense of humor with an extremely contagious laugh. Cordy had an extraordinary work ethic and took great pride in what she did as a counselor. Her love for helping people was evident in her work. When Cordy was not working, she mostly enjoyed spending precious time with her immediate family and close friends. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Mario and Maria Teresa Iturralde; paternal grandparents, Faraon and Maria de Los Angeles “Marica” Muñoz. She is survived by her husband Marcus A. Cantu; children, Patricio Andres Cantu, Camila Cantu, and Marcelo Anthony Cantu; parents, Faraon and Tere Muñoz; sisters, Karla Muñoz (Juventino) Fernandez, and Vanessa Muñoz (Juan Jose) Garcia; parents-in-law, Cesar and Cynthia Cantu. Mrs. Muñoz Cantu is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 5, 2017 in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Procession will depart at 2:00 p.m. to St. Patrick Catholic Church. A mass will be celebrated at 2:30 p.m. Services will conclude at the Church. The Muñoz and Cantu families want to express their profound appreciation for our family and friends during this difficult time.
