Josefina S. Cortez Josefina S. Cortez, 98, passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 in Laredo, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ramon Santos and Reyes S. Tapia; husband, Bernardo L. Cortez, Sr.; sons, Bernardo S. Cortez, Jr., Arcadio Cortez, Javier Cortez; twin sister, Rosa B. Salinas; sister, Andrea Trevino. Mrs. Cortez is survived by her children, Rosa (Jose) Leal, Sr., Alma (Jose I.) Gonzalez, Sylvia (Jesse +) Pacheco, Ricardo (Sandra) Cortez, Josefina Cortez, Alfredo (Esther +) Cortez, Bertha (Ernesto) Leal, Cristina (Jesus) Molina, Ramon Cortez, Esther (Tony) Ponce, Elizabeth (Jose Luis) Lira, Mario Alfonso (Martha) Cortez, Diana Laura (Johnny Lee) Luera, Martha Carolina (Manuel) Garza; special nephew, Judge Jose “Pepe” Salinas. Also surviving are 33 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, her sister, Elvira Mendoza and numerous relatives and friends. A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. with Elder Jaime Alaniz officiating. Services will conclude at the chapel.
