Gerardo “Jerry” Contreras, 49, left to meet his Creator on Saturday, September 30, 2017, having been surrounded by his loving family.
Jerry was born in Laredo, TX, to Placido and Esperanza Contreras. He was a 1986 graduate from Laredo’s United High School and one of its star basketball players. Jerry Lived in DeSoto, TX since 1989.
Jerry recently retired as a Supervisor for the City of DeSoto’s Water Department in Dallas. He was a dedicated and loving family man who enjoyed taking long weekend drives in his ‘84 GMC truck with his wife and the family’s white German Shepherd, Roscoe. Jerry was a loyal Dallas Mavs fan – motto: Mavericks Fan for Life (MFFL).Jerry was a loving husband, father, son, and uncle. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Placido and Esperanza Contreras and brother, Roberto Contreras.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Sandra; sons, Marco Antonio and Nicolas Aaron Contreras; siblings, Anna (Santos) Mendoza, Alicia Castillo, Armando Contreras, Placido (Alma) Contreras, Jr., Martina Brazell, Ramiro (Emily) Contreras, Tomas (Ana) Contreras, and Rosario Contreras. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The family will be receiving guests on Thursday, October 5, 2017 from 5:00p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Hillside Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral Services will be on Friday, October 6, 2017, from Hillside Funeral Home to San Martin De Porres Catholic Church where a funeral mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m.
Interment will immediately follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
