Alejandro Rodriguez

Alejandro Rodriguez, 92, passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2018 in Laredo, Texas. Mr. Alex Rodriguez was born in Monterrey, Mexico on February 9, 1926. At the age of 14, he came to the United States of America. He worked his way up to become a waiter at Tumble Inn and there he worked for 25 years. He was a member of Pasteurizadora de Ganaderos. As a member he participated at the Expo Mex, where he would show his registered Holstein-Friesian bulls. With pride and joy, all his bulls would receive Grand Champion of the Expo Mex. He was one of the first shareholders for Lala’s Leche Dairy Products. After he sold his ranches in Mexico, he built his own restaurant Alex’s Café together with his wife, Julia Rodriguez of 49 years. He was the founder of the fajitas. This was his specialty and the brisket BBQ. He had a family relationship with his customers and he enjoyed their company. After his retirement in 1990, he dedicated his time to take care of his wife until her passing in 2006. After her passing, he enjoyed spending time with his family and his grandchildren. Mr. Rodriguez is preceded in death by his wife, Julia Rodriguez. He is survived by his children, Alejandro (Rachel) Rodriguez Jr., Elsa Speer, Fernando (Shynar) Rodriguez, Mario (Patricia) Rodriguez, and Ricardo Rodriguez; grandchildren, Claudia Rodriguez, Andrew Rodriguez, Gabriel Bryan Speer, Lyanna  Jalily Speer, Ninette Rodriguez, Fernando Rodriguez Jr., Nathan Rodriguez, Jacob Rodriguez, Mario Alberto Rodriguez, Manuel Alejandro Rodriguez , Ricardo Rodriguez Jr., Roel Rodriguez, Irais Rodriguez, and Rene Rodriguez; great- grandchildren, Ashlee  Nicole Rodriguez, and Annberly  Faith Speer; sister, Delia Guajardo. Mr. Rodriguez is also survived by nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. by Elder Jose Aguilar, at the Hillside Funeral Home. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. by Elder Israel Guajardo. Interment will follow at the City of Laredo Cemetery.
