Alfredo Guerra, 89, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2020 in Laredo, Texas.
Mr. Guerra was born in Oilton, Texas, and was a long-life resident of Laredo, Texas. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, where he served 3 years as a Tank Operator. He worked for The Laredo Packing Company for 40 years. He also worked for Reddy Ice for more than 20 years. He will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Teofila V. Broussard; step-father, Arnold L. Broussard; brother, Francisco Guerra, Jr.; nephew, Hugo A. Gonzalez.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years of marriage, Maria Cruz Guerra; beloved daughters, Maria Magdalena (Jorge) Martinez, Gloria (Roberto+) Santa Cruz, Graciela (Mario) Serna; step-son Joe Flores from Houston, Texas; siblings, Roberto (Diana) Broussard from Sheboygan, Wisconsin and Aurora Broussard from Laredo, Texas. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
A rosary will be recited on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. at the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
A chapel service will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. at the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will follow to the City of Laredo Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be, Jorge Martinez Jr., Abel Martinez, Alfredo M. Guerra, Rolando Santa Cruz, Arnold Broussard, and Jose Angel Mata.
Military services will be provided by Fort Sam Houston Honor Guard and American Legion Post 59 Honor Guard.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the family kindly asks all those wishing to express their condolences in person to maintain social distancing orders, all necessary restrictions will be observed in order to protect the health and safety of those in attendance. In accordance with the city ordinance, the number of visitors will be limited. All visitors must wear face coverings while inside building. Hand sanitizer is provided upon entry.
