Alfredo Jasso Jr. passed away in San Antonio, Texas surrounded by his loving family at the age of 66. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfredo Sr. and Manuela Jasso, mother and father-in-law, Rodolfo and Epifania Cardenas; sister-in-law, Leticia Jasso; and brother-in-law, Jose Gonzalo Cardenas. He is survived by wife of 42 years, Angela Cardenas Jasso; sons, Alfredo (Kelly Jackson) Jasso, III and Rodolfo (Jacqueline Smith) Jasso; granddaughters, Alexandria Elizabeth and Carly Rose Jasso; brothers, Arturo (Alcaria) Jasso and Armando Jasso; sister, Araceli Jasso; brother in law, Rodolfo (Mary) Cardenas, Jr and sister-in-law, Rosie Cardenas. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Alfredo was born on December 23, 1952 in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico. He spent his entire childhood and adulthood in Laredo, Texas. Alfredo graduated from Martin High School in 1971. He attended Laredo State University where he received a Bachelor's degree in English with a Minor in Spanish and a Master's degree in Public Administration. Alfredo went on to teach at Christian Middle School and Martin High School, served as Vice Principal at United 7th Grade Campus and Untied High School, and Principal at Trautmann Middle School and United High School before retiring in 2005. After retirement, he served as an Assistant Principal and educator at Premier High School. In 2018, Alfredo and Angela decided to relocate to San Antonio to be closer to his sons and granddaughters. His passion for educating the youth of Laredo was very apparent in all of the wonderful stories that he shared about his students. Even after retirement, he kept close relationships and bonds with many of his former students. His joyful persona was always the life of any party and you could hear his distinct laughter from miles away. Alfredo‘s favorite past time was attending “bailes”, cooking, and tending to his garden; always offering his sons a helping hand with their lawns. In the last couple of years, he devoted his time to his granddaughters, and looked forward to babysitting his princesses. As the true animal lover that he was, his dog Charlie and cat, Prieta were a constant topic of conversation. A rosary will be recited on Monday, September 30, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in the family plot of the of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
