Alicia V. Sanchez, 94, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, September 11, 2021, in Laredo, Texas surrounded by loved ones.
Mrs. Sanchez, born and raised in Laredo, was a graduate of Martin High School and Texas Women’s University in Denton, TX. She was a primary teacher with LISD for 39 years and retired in 1985 from formerly Buenos Aires School. She was a catechist at Blessed Sacrament Church for 26 years and served in other ministries.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Homero R. Sanchez; parents, Jose and Rosaura Villarreal; siblings, Estela V. Roel and Eduardo Villarreal; daughter-in-law, Mary Esther Sanchez; and in-laws, Henry Sauvignet, Jose (Thelma) Sanchez, and Alicia S. (Richard) Duggan.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Homero R. Sanchez, Jr., Sylvia Mendoza, Patricia I. Sanchez, Carlos J. (Anabel) Sanchez, Javier O. Sanchez, and Cynthia Sanchez; daughter-in-law, Zulema York; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Irene Sauvignet, and sister-in-law, Dora Elia Villarreal of San Antonio, Texas. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A rosary will be recited on Sunday, September 19, 2021, at 7:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home chapel. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 20, 2021, at 8:30 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. A mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m.
Pallbearers will be Carlos Sanchez, Jr., James Sanchez, Juan Mendoza, Javier Sanchez, Jr., Domingo Terrones, and Carlos Sanchez.
Interment will follow to the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
