Amalia Cisneros Castañeda

Amalia Cisneros Castañeda, 85, passed away in her home on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 in Laredo, Texas. Mrs. Cisneros Castañeda worked in the psychiatric unit helping many patients with mental illness at Crown Point Indiana. She went on to work at Mercy Hospital as a cardiac monitor observer in Laredo, Texas for over 30 years. Not only was she very involved in helping patients in the medical field but she was also an amazing wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. She is preceded in death by her husband Jesus Castañeda; sister, Hortencia Sosa. Mrs. Cisneros Castañeda is survived by her children Manuel (Margie) Renteria, Jesse Castañeda Sr., Diana Gutierrez, Maya (Donald) Boswell, Alicia Flores, Fernando (Sylvia) Castañeda, Leticia Castañeda, Margie Castañeda, Connie Cruz, Mary (James) Wingo, Lucille C. (Ruben) Rangel, Terry Castañeda, and Rachel (Ted) Vurbeff. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A vigil will be recited on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. On Monday, October 22, 2018 Hillside Funeral Home Chapel will open at 9:00 a.m. A funeral service will be held at 12:45 p.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to St. John Neumann Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at the family plot of the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Manuel Renteria, Fernando Castañeda, Jesse Castañeda, Ruben Rangel, Raul Mendoza Jr., and Jesus (Jesse) Castañeda.
