Armando Soto Sr., 74, passed away on Monday, December 28, 2020 in Laredo, TX. Mr. Soto was born in Laredo, TX. He graduated from Martin High School, Class of 64’, which upon graduation he went to serve in the military with the United States Air Force. After the military he met the love of his life, Maria De la Luz Hernandez and has been with her ever since, for 50 years. Upon his departure, he worked as a welder and carman for The Texas Mexican Railway until his retirement in October 1997. During his retirement he enjoyed gardening, carpentry, loved family outings, family vacation and coin collecting. Mr. Soto is preceded in death by his parents, Benigno Soto and Juanita Soto; siblings Belinda Arce and Josefina De Luna; brother-in-law, Julio Arce; son-in-law, Jesus M. Gutierrez Jr. He is survived by his beloved wife, Maria De la Luz Soto; children, Sandra Laura Soto (Felipe) De Leon, Armando Soto Jr. ( Maritza Hernandez Soto), Claudia A. Gutierrez (Martin Arevalo) and Alejandro (Mary Ann) Soto; siblings Maria Luisa (Enrique+) Ruiz, Alfredo (Noemi) Soto, Benigno Soto Jr. , Sylvia Barrera, Juan Jose (Idalia) Soto. Mr.Soto is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Monday, January 4, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. at Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held from 6:00p.m to 9:00p.m A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. from Hillside Funeral Home to San Martin de Porres Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow to the City of Laredo Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the Air Force Honor Guard and American Legion Post 59 Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be, Alejandro Soto, Armando Soto Jr., Armando Soto III, Martin Arevalo, and Felipe De Leon. Honorary Pallbearers will be, Juan Jose Soto, Benigno Soto Jr., Benigno Soto III, Amanda M Gutierrez, Sylvia Barrera, Emmanuel Trevino, and Petrita Ramirez. My journey is complete.
