Christina Melissa Gutierrez

Christina M. Gutierrez affectionately known as Melissa, 53, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 23, 2020, at Laredo Medical Center. Our sister was a loving woman who loved to travel the world and be surrounded by family and friends. She worked for Laredo Independent School District for 28 years where she held various positions. Her last position was a Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant with LISD and 5-Star Rehab. Melissa helped raise her nieces and nephews with lots of love and good morals. She loved her brother and sister dearly and enjoyed spending quality time with cousins, and lifelong friends. The family would like to thank Dr. Zuniga Goldwater and all LMC staff. Melissa is preceded in death by her parents Arturo (Mary) Gutierrez, her beloved great-niece Danniela Victoria, and beloved cousin Eddie McCoy. She is survived by her siblings Arturo F. (Sylvia) Gutierrez and Patricia Y. Hernandez; aunts and uncles Eva (Jose +) Rodriguez, Olga (Fidel +) Flores, Fernando J. Mendez, and Guadalupe “Cupi” (Eddie+) McCoy; nieces and nephews Bellini (Wes +) Rice, Arturo Lacey, Marc A. (Kathy) Gutierrez, Jessica (Luis) Benavides, Bettina Hernandez, and Monica Y. Hernandez; great-nieces and nephews, Christina E. (Christopher) Garza, Alejandro J. Flores, Lola Rice, Gerardo E. Gutierrez, Marcela A. Gutierrez, Sofia Avendano, Kristen Ferreryro, and Hernan Ferreryro; great-great niece and nephews, Logan James, Brandon, and Bailee Garza. Melissa is also survived by numerous cousins, relatives, and lifelong friends. A prayer service will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at 7:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel.
