Elia Jaime

March 26, 1940 — October 29, 2024

Laredo, Texas

Elia Jaime was born on March 26, 1940 in Candela, Coahuila, Mexico. She was the only daughter and second oldest of four children. She was raised in Mexico and came from humble beginnings. She started working at an early age to help contribute to the family.

She married Felipe Jaime, Sr. on December 19, 1965. After their marriage in Mexico, they moved to Chicago and started their life together. They had three beautiful children, a daughter named Alma, and two sons, Gerardo and Felipe. She was a stay home mom for many years, but always wanted to work. Elia gave her all to her beloved church of Blessed Virgin Mary, working there for many years. After many years in Chicago, they moved their family to Laredo and made Laredo their permanent residence.

Her love for cooking was her passion. You could always find her in the kitchen and she made some awesome meals. If you went for a visit, you can guarantee that she was going to serve you a plate, a drink and some fresh homemade tortillas because her love language was acts of service. Instead of a constant smile, there was always a hot and delicious meal to serve others and a clean house.

Fear was not in her vocabulary or within her body. To the end she was fiercely independent strong willed and brave. At times stating no one could tell her what to do. Yet she had her stubborn side where she wouldn’t budge at times. Though she was adored and loved by so many.

Besides cooking she loved plants dancing and music which kept her young at heart. She had a Spunky personality and could talk to just about anyone. She often sparked conversations with strangers.

She was Felipe’s cherished sweetheart and the keeper of his heart. She was married to her husband for 59 years. They loved each other dearly and were inseparable til the end.

She will be remembered for the following qualities, resilience, a great cook, her generosity, and her sense of humor. She valued family, culture, bravery, gratitude, loyalty, religion, and respect. She was a great mother, wife, sister, daughter, grandmother, and friend. She will be missed dearly.

She is preceded in death by her son: Gerardo Jaime; parents: Jesus and Maria de Jesus Flores; brother: Jesus Arturo Flores.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her husband of 59 years of marriage: Felipe Jaime Sr.; children: Alma Delia (Ruben David) Jaime-Saenz, Felipe (Sandra Garcia) Jaime Jr.; grandchildren: Gerardo Jaime Jr., Reynaldo Saenz, Ruben Alejandro Saenz, Diego Yandel Jaime, Camila Sophia Jaime; siblings: Sostenes (Margarita Gallegos) Flores, Santiago (Vidola Cantu) Flores; sister-in-law: Maria Petra Flores, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
