Felix C. Esquivel, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and true man of God, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2024, surrounded by the family he considered his greatest treasure.
Born on January 14, 1947, Felix attended San Agustin High School, served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, and worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement in 2010.
In the years following his return from Vietnam, he married Carmen Castillo, the strong-willed beauty who would remain his inseparable soulmate for the next 52 years. It was through her that he was introduced to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for which he would go on to serve as Bishop, Branch President, District President, and Counselor for the Texas-McAllen Mission Presidency. For 45 years, he was key in helping establish a stake for the LDS Church in Laredo. At the time of his passing, he was serving as the first Stake Patriarch for the LDS Church in this area.
Anyone who knew Felix learned early on what he valued most. As hard as he worked as a servant of Christ, he loved nothing more than spending time with his family. He and Carmen lived in the same house for almost fifty years, during which it became a sanctuary of unconditional love for their children and the grandchildren who arrived one by one to add to its commotion and warmth. His love of life, love of family, sense of humor and unwavering faith in God will never be forgotten.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Adolfo Esquivel and Aurora Esquivel, siblings: Eusebio Cipriano Esquivel, San Juanita Esquivel, Adolfo Manuel Esquivel, and Mario Ernesto Esquivel.
