Felix Rodriguez III

August 11, 1948 — June 5, 2020

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Felix Rodriguez III who was called by the Lord to his final resting place on June 5, 2020, in Laredo, Texas, after suffering complications due to Diabetes. Felix was born on August 11, 1948, in Laredo, Texas. He attended Laredo schools and Texas A&I University (Kingsville) and Texas A&I University (Laredo) where he received a Bachelor’s of Business Administration Degree. He went on to work for Central Power and Light and then American Electric Power in various capacities for over 40 years until he retired in 2017. He was a workaholic and loved all the positions he held at these companies. While in high school, he was a member of the ROTC and later served in the Texas National Guard and U.S. Army Reserve. Felix will be missed for so many reasons. He was a good family man. He proved to be a loving son, brother, husband, provider, father, father-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle, grandfather, and friend. He was a man of his word. He always made time for family and friends. He could be counted on for help or his time. Everything he did, he did with passion and determination. He had “old school” beliefs and work ethic. He believed in God and his belief was evidenced through his acts of love, kindness, respect, and regard towards family and his fellow men. We will miss his beautiful smile and his caring, loving heart. During his free time and retirement, he enjoyed picking up his granddaughter from school, going to her dance recitals, and watching her play basketball. He also enjoyed taking road trips, listening to his Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash and Oldies CDs, grilling, working on home projects applying his excellent carpenter skills which he learned from his dad-a master carpenter. He also enjoyed doing word puzzles and playing board games. He was an avid sports fan-enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys, UT Longhorns, and the S.A. Spurs. His departure has left a void in our hearts and lives and he will be greatly missed. Until we join him in heaven, we will depend on the memories we made with him to get us through. Mr. Rodriguez is preceded in death by his parents, Felix Rodriguez Jr. and Estela Gonzalez; and sister, Diana Rodriguez. He is survived by his loving wife, Marianne Rodriguez; children, Richard (Eva) Rodriguez and Rosemary Rodriguez; granddaughter Christa Ava Rodriguez; siblings, Horace (Grace) Rodriguez, Alma Rodriguez, Rosalinda Rodriguez, and Idalia Rodriguez. Mr. Rodriguez is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. A rosary will be recited on Wednesday, June 10, 2020, at 7:00 p.m. in the Hillside Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
